The drill will involve multiple simulated casualties, and will take place in two parts, the first of which will begin at 9:30 a.m. Nearly two dozen young actors will become victims of a shooting at the middle school. Deputies and firefighters will arrive on scene and simulate the first 60 minutes of response.

    The Spokane County Sheriff's Office Marine Enforcement Unit will be conducting emphasis patrols targeting boaters under the influence from June 29 to July 1. According to the U.S. Coast Guard, boating under the influence is the leading known contributing factor in fatal boating accidents. Last year in Washington, alcohol and drugs were a primary factor in 44 percent of fatal boating accidents, and from 2006 to 2016, 57 deaths were attributed to boating under the influence.
