    Alaska Airlines has announced that its planned service from Paine Field-Snohomish County airport will include daily flights to Las Vegas, Los Angeles, Orange County, Phoenix, Portland, San Diego, San Francisco and San Jose. The carrier, which previously announced plans to launch flights from Paine Field but had not yet disclosed destinations, will serve those eight cities with 13 daily departures, it says.

    Photos courtesy of Monroe Police: The Snohomish County Dive Team works to recover a body of a pedestrian struck by a train, who ended up in Woods Creek on Wednesday, Jan. 16. The Monroe Police Department reports someone apparently walking on train tracks at State Route 2 and Woods Creek Road was struck by a train around 6 a.m. Tuesday, causing a road closure for several hours at SR 2 and East Main Street. The Snohomish County Dive Team is currently in the process of recovering the body, which is believed to be male, according to Monroe Police administrative director Debbie Willis.

    A piece of construction equipment backing into a utility pole at the corner of 210th Street Southwest and 72nd Avenue West caused a power outage just south of Edmonds Community College Friday afternoon, leaving 170 households without power, according to Snohomish County PUD. PUD spokesman Neil Neroutsos said that the outage occurred at 2:11 p.m. Crews were onsite working to repair the pole, he added.
