    The Shasta County Sheriff's Office said the 33-year-old Nigerian man, who was in the U.S. on a Visa, was picnicking with a friend when they decided to go into the lake to cool off around 4:00 p.m. According to police, the pair walked on an old submerged road when the man slipped or stepped off the edge of the road. He went underwater and did not return to the surface.
