    A portion of Pewits Nest State Natural Area in Sauk County has been closed to protect public safety and prevent further degradation at a site renowned for vegetated cliffs along a scenic gorge, waterfalls and pools formed during the retreat of the last glacier some 12,000 years ago. To protect public safety and a sensitive nature preserve, visitors are now prohibited from climbing on cliffs at Pewits Nest State Natural Area.

Sauk County Judge Michael Screnock found 21-year-old Zachary Hays guilty of first-degree reckless homicide and reckless endangerment, but not mentally responsible for the crimes.
