    A southern Illinois prosecutor has charged a doctor accused of killing his estranged wife with trying to pay to have the prosecutor kidnapped. Saline County State's Attorney Mike Henshaw on Wednesday announced the charges against Brian T. Burns, who was charged with murder in March and accused of burning his wife's body and spreading the ashes to try to cover it up.

    Gary Vice, 56, of Benton, an ex-correctional officer and a former Saline County deputy, pleaded guilty Friday in Saline County Circuit Court to four counts of first-degree sexual assault of a juvenile. Vice's charges were reduced to first-degree sexual assault as part of a negotiated plea, according to Saline County Chief Deputy Prosecuting Attorney Rebecca Bush.

    According to court documents from the Saline County Courthouse, the suspect arrested Tuesday in the July 10 hit-and-run death of a 2-year-old was at Twin Peaks sports bar in Little Rock before the accident. Thomas Fuell, 21, of Prattsville was incarcerated for 64 minutes at the Saline County Detention Center before being released on a $20,000 sheriff's bond.
