    An infectious viral disease of livestock, VS typically causes painful blister-like lesions on the lips, nostrils, tongue, coronary bands, and teats. The New Mexico Livestock Board is working with the USDA Animal and Plant Health Inspection Service Veterinary Services on investigating two cases of vesicular stomatitis , one in a Grant County horse and another in an Otero County horse.

    CHAVES COUNTY >> The New Mexico State Police began investigating a fatal motorcycle accident Thursday that occurred on State Road 24 near the Otero County and Chaves County border. NMSP District 8 Captain Stephen Cary said the accident involving one man took place in Chaves County on State Road 24 near mile marker 28. The location is in a remote area between Pinon and Dunken less than two miles across the border with Otero County, according to a post map from the Department of Transportation.
