    A 37-year-old Callahan sex offender was arrested Thursday after the Kangaroo Express at 540251 U.S. 1 was robbed the day before by a man with a hammer, according to the Nassau County Sheriff's Office. Charles Edwin Smith II of the 45000 block of Cato Way was charged with armed robbery and two warrants for failure to comply with sex-offender requirements.

Just after 2 a.m. Wednesday, a man armed with a hammer robbed the Kangaroo on U.S. 1 in Callahan, making off with $75 in cash and five packs of cigarettes.

A tractor being driven by Phillip Randall Lyons, 43, of Starke was making a left turn on a yellow flashing turn arrow from westbound Florida 200 when its front end collided with the left side of Fralick's vehicle. The Fralicks were taken to UF Health Jacksonville, where Martha Fralick was pronounced dead.
