    A new traffic roundabout aimed at reducing accidents at one of this township's most dangerous intersections is nearing completion and should be open to vehicles in mid-May. While severe ice and snow conditions delayed construction during the winter, all work should be finished only a month later than originally planned, said Monmouth County Engineer Joseph Ettore. The project, at the intersection of the once sleepy country intersection of Heulitt Road, Dutch Lane and Crine Road , was approved last summer at a cost of $1,256,313, to be paid entirely by the county, which is overseeing the work.

    A Tottenville man was sentenced Friday to seven years in a New Jersey state prison for his role in a mortgage scam where he pocketed homeowners' monthly payments, according to the Monmouth County Prosecutor's office. Mario Coniglione, 51, of Forest Lane, stole more than $187,000 in mortgage payments from a Freehold, N.J. couple over a 33-month span while posing as a broker who convinced them he had renegotiated a new mortgage with their lender, prosecutors said.

    A New York City man who stole more than $187,000 from two New Jersey couples who thought he was helping them with their mortgages has been sentenced to seven years in prison. Monmouth County prosecutors say 51-year-old Mario Coniglione, of Staten Island, also must pay restitution to both couples under the sentence imposed Friday.
