    A former mid-Michigan sheriff's deputy has been sentenced to just under a year in jail on criminal sexual conduct and misconduct charges. The Morning Sun of Mount Pleasant reports that a Midland County judge on Monday also ordered 57-year-old Kevin Dush of Rosebush to serve four years of probation after his release from jail and to pay about $7,400 in court costs, fines and other fees.

    Midland County officials have confirmed that Jenifier Boyer, Genesee County's former homeland security manager who filed a sex discrimination complain against Genesee County Sheriff Robert Pickell, has accepted a position as emergency manger starting Dec. 17. Roger Garner, Midland County emergency manager, said the job was posted in September months after he announced that he would be leaving at the end of the year. Garner, who Boyer will replace in Midland County as emergency manager, said he told the county in June that he would be leaving at the end of 2015, but did not make a public announcement.

Boyer filed a sex discrimination complaint against Pickell Nov. 13. She later announced on Dec. 1 that she was resigning from her post as the county's emergency management program coordinator.
