    Residents in Ukiah and Redwood Valley with wells are being asked by Mendocino County to participate in a state groundwater monitoring program which would yield grant funding for water projects. Deborah Edelman, project manager for the Mendocino County Resource Conservation District, said Thursday the MCRCD and the county Water Agency are hoping to gage seasonal and long-term trends in area groundwater levels.

    Former Mendocino County Assistant District Attorney Paul Sequeira filed a $90,000 claim against the county March 4 alleging breach of contract asserting he didn't receive the agreed upon compensation during his employment with the DA's Office. Sequeira is claiming that between September 2011 and March 2016 he wasn't paid what he was promised by the county.

    A 29-year-old Ukiah man was arrested Wednesday on suspicion of raping a woman in her sleep, according to the Mendocino County Sheriff's Office. The 23-year-old woman contacted the Sheriff's Office just before 2 p.m. Wednesday to report that she was the victim of multiple counts of rape, allegedly committed by Anthony Alan Cunningham Coburn in the 300 block of Laws Avenue in Ukiah.
