    Teams have been in Lincoln County for weeks working on different methods to seal shafts and adits of abandoned mines, taking into consideration approaches to allow bats to enter and leave A polyurethane plug expands to seal a mine opening, after which dirt is added on top to protect the plug from the sun. Few people noticed, but for the past two months, staff from the U.S. Forest Service's Regional Abandoned Mine Lands Program and a contractor's crew were in Lincoln County, sealing up entrances to dangerous shafts at some sites and at other, creating barriers for humans, but conduits for bats who abide inside the mines.
