    During the recently completed fiscal year, $3.7 million was paid to 1,163 crime victims, including $80,000 in Lee County, by a fund administered by the Attorney General's office. But because of changes made by the Legislature during the 2016 session, Attorney General Jim Hood said he fears as much money will not be available in the fund for crime victims during the new fiscal year that started July 1. A significant portion of the money in the fund, established to help crime victims, is being transferred to the state general fund under legislation passed during the 2016 session.
