A news release from the city of Hoxie states Reverend Garry Wiles and members of the Hoxie United Methodist Church will hold a "time of prayer and appreciation" for all police officers in the county as well as fire department personnel, first responders and members of the Arkansas State Police.

    The Walnut Ridge Army Airfield Access Road at College City in Lawrence County is one of nine properties that have been listed on the National Register of Historic Places, the country's official list of historically significant properties, Arkansas Historic Preservation Program Director Frances McSwain has announced. The Walnut Ridge Army Airfield Access Road, roughly bounded by U.S. Highway 67 and the junction of Fulbright Avenue and Stafford Lane, is a two-lane concrete highway constructed under the National Defense Highway Act of 1941.

    In August of 2015, WBC student and local business owner Holly Looney was crowned the 2015 Miss Lawrence County at the annual county fair. She continued on in the pageant system, and was crowned the 2015 Arkansas State Fair Queen in late October, the first contestant from Lawrence County to hold the title.
