    Early voting is underway for a special election for the District 17 office of state representative. Early voting began at the County Elections Administration Office located in Suite 140 of the Karnes County Offices on the Square Dec. 29 and will continue through Dec. 31 from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Early voting will also take place Jan. 2 from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Karnes County polling places will be consolidated into five voting locations for the upcoming special election.

    Karnes County polling places will be consolidated into five voting locations for the upcoming special election for the District 17 office of state representative. Karnes County voters will go to the polls in a special election set for Tuesday, Jan. 6 to choose a new state representative along with all the other voters in the Texas House of Representatives District 17. Republican Tim Kleinschmidt currently represents District 17 but plans to resign in order to accept a position of general counsel for Texas Agriculture Commissioner-elect Sid Miller.
