CHARLES TOWNSHIP – A pilot program involving Elgin Community College is giving students at the Kane County Juvenile Justice Center in St. Charles Township a way to prepare for college and a career, according to a news release. ECC and the Kane County Regional Office of Education have been working since March to develop the program, which began June 15. “We needed to partner with an organization that would be willing to work outside of the campus in a new environment like the juvenile justice center,” Regional Superintendent Patricia Dal Santo stated in the release.

Michael Szot, 23, was sentenced in March to periodic imprisonment for driving his car through a fence and into a quarry lake in Naperville after a night of drinking on July 19, 2014.
