    The Kanawha County school system is slightly increasing average class sizes in middle and high schools next school year, contributing to 27 classroom teacher positions being cut. The Charleston Gazette reports Superintendent Ron Duerring says there will be an average of 23 students per teacher in seventh- and eighth-grade classes, up from a 22-1 ratio in the recently finished 2014-15 school year, and 24 students per teacher at high schools, up from a 23-1 ratio in 2014-15.
