    Local pilot Pete Nelson captured the progress the state has made paving Highway 1 north of Fairfield. Jefferson County Engineer Scott Cline said the Iowa Department of Transportation is partnering with the county to pave part of the gravel roads that intersect with this portion of Highway 1. The state will pave 75 feet from the highway onto the gravel road.
