    The Jackson County Sheriff's Office has released the identity of a man that was found dead in Bear Creek on April 6. Following an autopsy, the man was positively identified as 38-year-old Medford resident John Alfred Mapstone, according to JSCO. Mapstone had been reported missing to police on March 11, deputies said.

According to a Jackson County Sheriff's Office investigation, 23-year-old Gold Hill resident John Viera Andrade was driving a maroon Nissan Altima on Blackwell road around 1:10 p.m. on April 9. The Altima reportedly crossed the center line and hit an oncoming white Dodge Caravan carrying a family of five.

Presiding Jackson County Circuit Judge Timothy Gerking said he hopes that mandatory settlement conferences starting this month will coax prosecutors to give their "last, best" plea offers within four months, rather than the year or more it typically takes for Measure 11 cases to go to trial.
