    For the second time in two days, rescue teams in the Elk Range had to call for a high-altitude helicopter to retrieve an injured hiker near the top of a 14,000-foot mountain. On Monday, an injured woman was rescued on the west face of Snowmass Mountain, approximately 60 feet below the summit, on the Lead King Trail, in Gunnison County.

    The Pitkin County Sheriff's Office received a mutual aid request around 2:50 p.m. Saturday from Gunnison County to help facilitate the rescue of an injured climber on Snowmass Mountain, according to a Sheriff's Office news release issued around 9:15 p.m. Snowmass Mountain is one of Colorado's fourteeners, with an elevation of 14,098 feet. The injured climber, identified as 61-year-old Gary M. Bender from Colorado Springs, had fallen while following a popular route up the mountain known as the "S" route, according to the news release.
