    Six sheet-metal figures symbolically representing travelers on the Old Spanish Trail were installed on the outskirts of Green River on July 16. This project, designed to raise public awareness of the importance of the Green River crossing in the history of the OST and of transcontinental travel in general, was sponsored by the Emery County Historic Preservation Commission with the support of Green River City and the San Rafael chapter of the Old Spanish Trail Association. The silhouettes were created by Eldon Holmes, a well known artist from Cleveland.

    A man died Monday morning on State Road 6 in Emery County when he rolled his SUV rolled down an embankment while trying to avoid traffic stopped for road construction, the Utah Highway Patrol reported. At about 11:30 a.m., the man was driving northbound about 35 miles from Price, when came upon a line of cars waiting to be taken through a construction zone by a pilot car, the UHP reported.

    Traffic was at a standstill and backed up for miles in both directions after a collision on SR-6 Wednesday morning. Trooper Bradley Shaw of the Utah Highway Patrol said the accident happened at about 11:15 am near the Carbon/Emery County line when the driver of a pickup truck approached a construction zone and was unable to stop for other vehicles at the scene.

As the plane was taking off, it was caught in a crosswind which carried the plane off the airstrip, clipping one wing and throwing the plane over the edge of a deep wash.
