    A convenience store could be coming to one corner of a busy intersection along one of South Carolina's oldest roads. After a public hearing Monday, Dorchester County Council gave unanimous approval to an amendment to development standards that would allow new businesses around Cook's Crossroads, where S.C. Highway 165 meets historic Ashley River Road, also known as S.C. Highway 61. The decision amended the Ashley River Historic Overlay District created in 2007 to promote responsible development by limiting residential density and commercial development.
