    Criminal charges have been dismissed against one man, and a second man charged with attempted murder said he will rely on self-defense in connection with a gun fight between the two men about 9 a.m. May 10 on South Hill. Des Moines County prosecutors late Friday dismissed weapons charges against Arthur "AJ, Little Mo" Smith, 35, of Burlington, with the stipulation they will be allowed to refile charges against him if new evidence arises.

Kenneth Klenk, 78, was helping load a semi-tractor trailer with corn shortly before noon at his farm at 225th Street and Des Moines County Highway 99 when he began to slip underneath several thousand bushels of corn stored inside the grain bin.
