According to deputies with the Dawson County Sheriff's Office, they were called to the Medical Arts Hospital ER around 6:45 p.m. They were told about the accidental shooting that happened in the 600 block of County Road L in Lamesa. Deputies say after the father was finished shooting, the 5-year-old was standing in the back of the pickup near the back window of the truck.

    A Lamesa woman has been jailed in Lubbock after medical professionals alerted police to a baby with methamphetamine in her system on Friday. Destiny Raylyn Lozano, 19, was arrested and charged with a felony count of injury to a child out of Dawson County after her 9-month-old daughter was taken to a Lubbock hospital with "a heavy amount of meth in her system," according to Lamesa Police Chief Dale E. Alwan Sr. At about 5:40 a.m., Lamesa officials were called to the Medical Arts Hospital in reference to a baby who was being treated, Alwan said.
