    With the pending departure of Circuit Judge Joel Cunningham, fellow Judge Kim Slayton White of South Boston will be returning home to preside over cases in Halifax and Charlotte counties. White, who served as Halifax County Commonwealth's Attorney before she was elevated to the circuit bench in 2012, has arranged to take over for Cunningham, who announced this month he would retire on April 1. Since joining the judiciary following her August 2012 appointment by former Gov. Bob McDonnell, Judge White has presided primarily in Prince Edward and Cumberland counties, in the northern part of the 10th Judicial Circuit.

    A 46 year old Wylliesburg man died as a result of a two vehicle crash in Charlotte County Saturday, at 7:21 p.m. Irving L. Goode died of injuries after being transported for treatment to Carillon Hospital in Roanoke later that night, according to a report from the Virginia State Police. According to the report, a 1993 Chevrolet S-10 pickup truck was traveling along Route 608, west of Route 633 when it struck head-on a 1998 Mitsubishi Mirage which was driven by Goode.
