The community impact grants will be part of a total annual $2.7 million in investments the United Way anticipates for each of the next two years beginning July 1. The rest of the money will go toward paying for the costs of an emergency shelter for families and the United Way's 2-1-1 information line, keeping an emergency fund on tap and to pay out donor-directed gifts, according to United Way CEO Sue Grey.

Divan, 33, of the 400 block of Chateau Drive, was arrested late Tuesday night by a Champaign County sheriff's deputy after he was seen going through items in a vehicle at a gas station in the 300 block of East Warrant Street about 11 p.m. A deputy's report said Divan told the deputy he had gone through multiple vehicles in the area and taken items.
