In their unanimous voice vote Thursday night board members notified a group of local firms that had been working on a sheriff's operations master plan that the county would not undertake a detailed space programming and schematic design, estimated to cost $340,000.

    All 25 applicants for a vacant associate judgeship in Champaign County will be interviewed after all, following complaints by some members of the Champaign County Bar Association that interviews were scheduled before the results of a bar poll on the candidates' qualifications were in the hands of the judges making the selection. Champaign County Presiding Judge Tom Difanis said after consulting with the other circuit judges in Champaign County, he winnowed the list of applicants to 14 and scheduled interviews for this week for the position being vacated June 30 by Chase Leonhard.

    A 25-year-old Tazewell County man was arraigned Thursday on a charge alleging he sexually molested a teen he knew about a year ago. Theodore Beaupre of Groveland was arrested in Peoria County earlier this month on a warrant from Champaign County charging him with aggravated criminal sexual abuse of a teen-age girl.
