    A release from the Champaign County Sheriff's Office said that the department's street crimes unit, accompanied by members of the Metro SWAT and an Illinois State Police methamphetamine response team, went to a home at 225 Franklin with a search warrant about 3:30 a.m. They arrested the resident, Brian Wernigk, 33 for possession with intent to deliver methamphetamine, participation in the manufacture of methamphetamine and unlawful use of weapons. Also arrested was Dane Frickey, 23, of Fairbury, for possession of a controlled substance, drug equipment and a hypodermic syringe.

    The Champaign County Coroner has identified a man who died from injuries received in a motor vehicle versus pedestrian incident that happened in Urbana on April 14. Coroner Duane Northrup says Robert Ash, 79, was pronounced dead at Carle Foundation Hospital on April 15 at 12:36 a.m. Authorities say Ash was reportedly struck by a vehicle at about 6:23 p.m. while crossing the street near Race Street and Washington Street. Northrup says Ash died from injuries received in this incident.
