    The state Department of Environmental Protection has fined a shale gas pipeline company $1.5 million for discharging sediment and causing a landslide that damaged Butler County streams and wetlands along an 18-mile pipeline construction project from November 2015 through March 2016. According to the DEP's 18-page consent order, signed July 13 but made public today, the pipeline project of Stonehenge Appalachia LLC, a subsidiary of Colorado-based Stonehenge Energy Resources II, was cited for 184 violations of the state Clean Streams Law, Oil and Gas Act, Solid Waste management Act and Dam Safety Act, plus another 11 violations following a March cease and desist order.

    The boy, who is from the Pittsburgh area, was pronounced dead at Butler Memorial Hospital where he was taken after family members pulled from a private pond along Shroyer Mill Road, shortly after 9 p.m. An autopsy is expected to be performed later today to determine the cause of death, said Butler County Deputy Coroner Larry Barr. State police are investigating but a report was not available this morning.
