    A Blount County elementary school employee pleaded guilty this morning to lying about a gunman being at the school last week. Carmen Maria Williams pleaded guilty to the misdemeanor charge of rendering a false alarm, and apologized to the public after being ordered to do so under her plea, said Blount Count District Attorney Pamela Casey.

    Carmen Williams, a receptionist at Hayden Elementary, was charged with rendering false alarm on Friday, Oct. 16. She was booked into the county jail but bonded out later that day. Blount County Sheriff Deputy Tim Kent said Principal Shawn Marsh told him that he was running an errand to the bank when Williams called him, saying there was a gunman in the school and asking if the school should go on lockdown.
