Silver Airways Inc., the airline that served the Altoona-Blair County Airport before Sun Air Express secured the Essential Air Service contract in the last bidding process, recently asked the U.S. Department of Transportation for an extension on the May 3 deadline. Silver's request for the later deadline, posted online, indicated that the company needs additional time for meetings that will allow it to finish the work involved in preparing its bid.
