    Baliffs who shot and killed Berrien County inmate Larry Gordon last July after Gordon shot and killed two other bailiffs had no way of knowing that Gordon's only weapon, a revolver stolen from a deputy, was empty by the time they confronted him at the end of a hall in the Berrien County Courthouse. Berrien County Prosecutor Michael Sepic concluded the bailiffs were justified in their actions, he said in a ruling Wednesday, Nov. 2. Also cleared of any wrongdoing was the inmate who failed to turn over to authorities a letter Gordon handed him the morning of the incident that warned of Gordon's plan to escape.
