    Steven Crabtree, 30, was arrested Oct. 15 after deputies were led on a chase when an employee of Island Bagel Company witnessed a man throwing a rock through a glass door, according to a Beaufort County Sheriff's Office release. Crabtree was charged with fleeing to evade, illegal drug possession and two second-degree burglary counts at that time, the release said.

    Beaufort County school board members were in near universal agreement last month when they approved later start times for middle and high schools next year. Almost a dozen parents of Beaufort High School students criticized the board at its meeting Tuesday for a March 15 vote to move the start times, with the exception of Hilton Head Island schools, from 8 a.m. closer to 9 a.m. The board voted after superintendent Jeff Moss cited research indicating that students who get more sleep perform better academically and are healthier physically and mentally.

    Three people were charged with grand larceny and first-degree burglary after four televisions with a combined value of $5,000 were stolen from a Sea Pines home late Monday night. Marcos Chavarria-Lobo, 23, of Hilton Head Island; Camille Carter, 21, of Okatie; and Alec Haughton-James, 23, of Hilton Head, were charged after Chavarria-Lobo told deputies he, Carter and Haughton-James had taken the televisions from a home that was under construction on Mizzenmast Court, according to a Beaufort County Sheriff's Office news release.
