    The future of the Route 6 rest stop between exits 6 and 7 in Hyannis is uncertain, as the state no longer maintains it and the county, which stepped up to help when the state abandoned the rest stop, is feeling a budget pinch. An item on the agenda of the March 16 meeting of the Barnstable County Commission indicated the county was set to send a letter to the state Department of Transportation “abdicating all responsibility” for the rest stop, but County Administrator John Yunits said before the meeting that he was hoping to avoid that.
