    Traffic was snarled Friday morning near Willacoochee after a semi-truck hauling gas crashed on Highway 82 around 6 a.m. killing the driver. The tanker, carrying 7,500 gallons of fuel, ran into the back of a pick up truck.

    Atkinson County Sheriff David Moore says a family member has been charged with killing the man who shot and killed his relative Sunday night, at a horse training facility in Willacoochee. Mauricio Figueroa-Garcia is in the Atkinson County Jail, charged with murder, aggravated assault, and possession of a firearm during the commission of a crime.

    A new election for the District 14 Tribal Council race, which includes portions of Rogers and Tulsa counties, has been set for Saturday, July 25. The Cherokee Nation Supreme Court granted a motion last week to hold a new election since the recount in the tight race between candidates William Pearson and Keith Austin could not be mathematically certain. The recount results had Pearson with 525 votes and Austin with 519 votes.
