According to Albany County prosecutors, Officer Joshua Spratt, 34, had sexual contact with at least two students, aged 16 and 17 years old, while assigned to Watervliet High School, including multiple instances of oral sex in nearby cemeteries.

    The pace of occupancy rate growth at hotels slowed in June in the Albany, New York area as more rooms hit the market and hundreds more are in the pipeline. The average occupancy rate increased 1 percent in Albany County, and fell 1.7 percent in Saratoga County, the two counties with the most rooms in the region, according to hospitality consulting firm STR Inc. Overall, the average occupancy rate increased 1 percent in Albany, Saratoga, Rensselaer and Schenectady counties in June, and fell 0.3 percent in May. Those results pale in comparison to the first four months of the year, when the average combined occupancy rate increase in the counties ranged from 3.3 percent in February to 9.8 percent in March, compared to the previous year.

    The 21-year-old son of Sheriff Craig Apple was charged with misdemeanor aggravated drunken driving early Saturday morning after a crash at Central and Colvin avenues, police said. No one was injured in the wreck, but Kyle R. Apple , of Colonie, was found by officers inside his disabled 2014 Honda Civic at the scene around 2:30 a.m. with the keys still in the ignition and the engine running, according to an Albany police report.
