    I have been involved in coverage of the U.S. FIRST Robotics competitions since the initial year, nearly 25 years ago, when the Clinton High-Nypro team won the event. For many seasons, as I trekked out to wherever the local teams were competing, I have told people how amazing it was to watch the teams, how it is like a high school football game in atmosphere, but with a level of courtesy that is pretty amazing.

    Nypro Inc. is considering another major expansion to its operations in Mebane, N.C., and recently received approval by the Mebane City Council for $314,250 in an incentive package that is contingent on the creation of 75 new jobs. The agreement is based on a $16.95 million investment from Nypro that includes leasing a 137,000-square-foot building, adding $8 million in equipment and creating 75 jobs.
