    Donald Macdonald, executive chairman of Macdonald Hotels and resorts, has presented a significant donation to the Bethesda Hospice in Stornoway of which he has been a supporter over many years. He also took the opportunity to present plaques to mark the contributions made to the local community to by three local men - the late Dr Neil Gilllies, Sandy Matheson, CVO, OBE , and D R Macdonald.

    MACDONALD Hotels has revealed it is sitting on offers worth A 83 million to enter joint property ventures on 11 of its sites, as it continues to unlock cash to invest in its portfolio. Gordon Fraser, managing director of the Bathgate-based hotels and resorts firm, said Macdonald is continuing to maximise its non-hotel asset base in its bid to establish itself in the luxury end of the hospitality market.

    The 61-year-old, in charge at the prestigious five-star hotel for the past 12 years, died at his home in the city, the Macdonald Hotels Group announced today. After a devastating fire at the Randolph in April 2015, Mr Grange led the A 6.5m renovation project, which was completed last year.
