The play is based on the first of four novels published by Jane Austen in her lifetime, and it conveys the author's wit and humor as she satirizes social norms of the early 1800s. Director Leslie Noble says she wondered if the material would feel relevant to 21st century students and audiences, but one read-through with the cast allayed her fears.
