Before we get to the minor league action yesterday, some special congratulations go out to the five Lynchburg Hillcats players who were selected for the Carolina League All-Star game: The Hillcats pitching staff has been incredible all season, and likely would have had two more All-Stars if Thomas Pannone and Matt Esparza hadn't been promoted to Double-A Akron already. Haggerty is leading all minor league players in triples while Loopstok has been the most consistent producer in the heart of the Lynchburg batting order all season. Comment?

After spotting the White Sox a 3-2 lead, the Indians got a timely go-ahead home run from Edwin Encarnacion. Klubot and the bullpen shut the White Sox down and - get this - the offense added late runs! Last year, the Cavaliers' team motto was "All In." Comment?

According to Zack Meisel of Cleveland.com, former Ohio State Buckeye and current Cleveland Browns safety Tyvis Powell was scheduled to throw out the first pitch prior to the Cleveland Indians game against the Chicago White Sox Friday evening. That's nice. Comment?

The Indians conveniently got this game out of the way so Cleveland sports fans could focus all of their angst on the Cavs without competition from simultaneous baseball. MLB.com DENVER -- A trio of off-days in a short period of time has given the Indians some flexibility with their pitching staff, contributing to the decision to send starter Mike Clevinger to Triple-A Columbus on Wednesday morning. I am an Indians fan because I grew up in Cleveland as a fourth-generation Indians fan. My dad took me to my first game when I was six - this was the era of the all-red uniforms with the Greek C, and I think the Indians played the Twins in that game - and I, in turn, dragged him to every Grandstand Managers game that the Plain Dealer sponsored. Comment?

I grew up in Canton and my Dad was a fan and they were the team always on the radio. My earliest memories were when they served as the Yankees farm club and Graig Nettles, Chris Chamblis, and Dick Tidrow were on the team. Comment?

MLB.com Terry Francona will manage the 2017 All-Star Game for the third time in his managerial career, and the skipper is happy that Major League Baseball has taken the team's roster decisions out of his hands. MLB.com Indians closer Cody Allen had been perfect in save situations dating back to August of last season. Comment?
