Marte, who played parts of five seasons with the Indians from 2006 through 2010, was killed in a car accident early Sunday morning in his native Dominican Republic. Because Marte didn't live up to fans' hopes with the Indians, he is often remembered less than fondly.

    Jan 20, 2017 | Let's Go Tribe

Baseball exists in a world tinged in sepia. Whether because of Ken Burns, stories our parents tell or the league itself always making a point to hearken back to the old days.

    Jan 20, 2017 | Let's Go Tribe

In the spring of 1997, a group of boys took batting practice for an upcoming coach-pitch baseball game. Some hacked away, attempting to launch the ball far beyond the reach of the outfielders; others focused on keeping the ball down and driving it into a gap.

  10. Yandy Diaz, Bradley Zimmer among eight prospects invited to Indians spring trainingRead the original story w/Photo

    Jan 20, 2017 | Let's Go Tribe

The Cleveland Indians have invited eight internal players to spring training as non-roster invites, per MLB.com's Jordan Bastian . Who knows what could happen in March, but I would not expect anyone besides Yandy Diaz to have a real shot at making the roster directly out of spring training, and even his chance is slight.

By this time next month, the Cleveland Indians will have had their pitchers and catchers report and will be just two days away from their first full squad workout of the 2017 spring training. As Jason Lukehart mentioned on the LGT podcast last night, baseball feels closer than it has in a while.

    Jan 14, 2017 | Let's Go Tribe

Despite the field doubling in size to 10, no one was a match for third base prospect Nolan Jones, who had more than twice the amount of votes as second and third place finishers Juan Hillman and Ryan Merritt with 34 percent of the total. Just like fellow 2016 draft pick Will Benson, Jones is pretty much all potential at this point.

    Jan 13, 2017 | Let's Go Tribe

In 2015, the Cleveland Indians were able to turn a struggling Brandon Moss into a young, exciting pitching prospect in Rob Kaminsky at the trade deadline. Prior to coming over to Cleveland, Kaminsky consistently rated as one of the top prospects in an incredible St. Louis farm system, so the deal seemed to heavily favor the Cleveland Indians.

    Jan 13, 2017 | Let's Go Tribe

Since seemingly the dawn of the millennium, but really only the last eight-ish years, Miguel Cabrera has made a hobby of brutalizing the Cleveland Indians. In my recent series about division rivals that crushed the Tribe, Cabrera was the Tigers' greatest representative on a list full of legends and Hall of Famers.

Last year, Yu-Cheng Chang was ranked #14 in the LGT prospect rankings, and despite having a solid 2016, has risen just slightly to the #9 spot for 2017. But if we're being honest, the reason that he is often overlooked in the Cleveland Indians ' system is because of the presence of one man: Francisco Lindor.

OK. I originally intended this as a comment on the Fangraphs article, written by Craig Edwards, and posted in the N&N on January 8th concerning modern starting pitchers, but of course it's now its own Fan Post. The premise of the Fangraphs article was modern starting pitchers will fall short of current Hall of Fame standards and NO modern starting pitcher will gain induction into the Hall of Fame.

    Jan 7, 2017 | Let's Go Tribe

After being usurped by Yandy Diaz for the #4 spot, Bobby Bradley narrowly beats out Greg Allen to round out the top 5 of the LGT prospect ranking for 2017. Bradley was the third round pick for the Cleveland Indians in 2014, and he's been destroying baseballs left and right in the Cleveland farm system since entering the AZL in 2014.
