    The traffic is flowing on U.S. Highway 52 in Zumbrota after a weekend of the highway being closed to bring down the old Minnesota Highway 58 bridge. Crews brought down the old bridge, supports and all, knocking pieces onto a thick bed of sand below, beginning Friday night, said Mike Dougherty, spokesman for the Minnesota Department of Transportation District 6. During the work on the bridge, the traffic was routed around the construction site onto the on and off ramps and around the new roundabouts at the Hwy.

    A car rear-ended another, causing a chain reaction that included four vehicles in a construction zone on U.S. Highway 52. A 2008 Pontiac driven by Ashlan Svihel, 18, of St. Cloud was southbound on Hwy. 52, just north of the exit to westbound Minnesota Highway 60, when it struck a southbound 2015 Toyota driven by Roxane Chlachula, 55, of Rochester.

    A Zumbrota man convicted of sexually assaulting a child was sentenced Friday to more than 19 years in prison, stayed for 30 years but must serve a year in jail. Nathon John Winkels, 43, was charged in December in Goodhue County District Court with two counts of first-degree criminal sexual conduct and one count each of second-degree criminal sexual conduct, use of minors in a sexual performance and possession of child pornography, all felonies.
