    The Dec. 10 ballot in East Baton Rouge Parish got more crowded Wednesday after the Metro Council, despite some misgivings prompted by recent historic flooding, agreed to ask voters to approve a new property tax to fund 45 projects to widen or build new roads. The Council also will ask voters to rededicate an existing half-cent sales tax that would fund more than 100 plans to add sidewalks or other enhancements.

    A couple of punches and a broken beer bottle to the head outside a Zachary bar early Saturday morning landed a man in the hospital with a V-shaped gash across his forehead that required 65 stitches to close, police said. Donald "Bubba" Pope, one of those alleged to be behind the attack outside the T & T bar on Highway 19 in Zachary, told police he slapped the victim in the face after being insulted by the man outside the bar, according to a Zachary police report.

    A man accused of having sex with a 14-year-old girl - who'd been "sold" to him by another man for 15 minutes - was arrested Monday on counts of trafficking and sexual battery, Baton Rouge police said. Wayne Dyer, 59, of Zachary, picked up the girl and the alleged seller, 36-year-old Corey Williams, at a residence and took them to a convenience store, according to a Baton Rouge police report.
