    ANNA MAE BELL ROBERTS, of Houston, TX, formerly of Yawkey, WV, passed away Sunday, November 16, 2014, at the age of 87. She was born on August 28, 1927, to the late Carl Bell and Marie Elswick Bell of Clendenin, WV. Although Anna Mae worked for Columbia Gas early in life, she became a life-long homemaker after the birth of her son, dedicating herself to her late husband, Lawrence Roberts, and son Kevin.

    Having succeeded in securing a similar amount for a new 400 foot communications tower at Lincoln 911 in Hamlin, Lincoln County officials are now seeking a further state grant of $567,000 for a tower in the Yawkey area. Ultimately, county commissioners are hopeful that the Yawkey tower would be used by cell phone carriers to provide significant coverage to the eastern part of Lincoln County.
