    Bank robbery suspect Frank Anthony Kelley died from a self-inflicted gunshot wound to the head - not from police gunfire as originally believed - in a shootout following a June 13 chase, police said Friday. Kelley was wearing body armor at the time of the exchange of shots with two Kentwood police officers, and evidence shows that a bullet from his gun killed him, according to an autopsy performed by the Kent County Medical Examiner.

The public suicide on a sidewalk adjacent to the Medical Mile downtown drew a large response by authorities and caused uncertainty about 5 p.m. on June 1. Investigators quickly determined the 26-year-old took his own life, but the alarm remained as Armock, of Wyoming, indicated in a note that he had left "a parting gift for police."
