    Wrightsville Beach had pumps operating in the morning to keep the sewers running properly and there was some minor damage in some places, with the worst apparently at Shell Island Resort, which saw the high-rise building damaged in a few places. At Shell Island Resort, winds tore holes in the buildings north and west side exteriors, exposing pipes and cables.

The 18th annual Son Run, a 5K race through Wrightsville Beach sponsored by the Wrightsville Beach United Methodist Church, has been postponed from this weekend's scheduled running on Saturday, Oct. 8 to Sunday, Oct. 23 at 1 p.m. The New Hanover County Health Department will be providing free flu shots on Tuesday, Oct. 11 at the Fran Russ Recreation Center at 4 Russ Drive in the Wrightsville Beach municipal complex.
