    Manuel Zuleta was indicted in May 2015 after he failed to repay a bad check he had cashed at Tuttle's Grocery and Market in Woodsboro, said Tim Poynter, assistant district attorney. As a part of his sentence, the jury ordered Zuleta to repay all of the $1,594 he received by cashing the check as well as a $2,000 fine.

    The Refugio County Sheriff's Office discovered about 500 pounds of marijuana on a train Monday about eight miles south of Woodsboro. Railroad officials notified the sheriff's office about 12:15 p.m. that people were on the train who weren't allowed to be, said Sheriff Pinky Gonzales.

    Bella Coscetti seemed oblivious to the massive John Deere combine hovering near her as she grabbed a pole, headed down the runway and vaulted over a rope hanging nearly double her 5-foot-3 frame before landing safely in the pit. The 12-year-old Coscetti has been pole vaulting for about a year, but the seventh grader at Refugio Middle School has already cleared 9 feet and won a bronze medal at the National AAU Junior Olympics.

Colby Garcia, 25, of Refugio, was traveling south on Farm-to-Market Road 1360 in a 2011 Dodge Ram at about 7:30 a.m. Lacey Sanders, 22, of Refugio, was a passenger, said Anna Mendez, Department of Public Safety senior communications operator.
