    Firefighters a 911 call was received at 6:08 p.m. Friday from a homeowner on the 200 block of East Fourth Avenue reporting an appliance on fire on the second floor. All occupants were safely evacuated, and after securing a water source and pulling a hose line into the building, the fire, which was found in a laundry room on the second floor, was extinguished within 19 minutes after the first companies arrived.

    A Woodridge man convicted of attacking two girls on two separate days in 2013 in Bolingbrook was sentenced Wednesday to six years in prison. Kareem Green, 22, was found guilty of attempted kidnapping, aggravated battery, unlawful restraint and misdemeanor battery at the conclusion of a bench trial Aug. 14. Green also must register as a violent offender for 10 years after his release.
