    As the city continues to debate whether Winter Park needs a stronger ordinance on preserving historic properties, the entire region is about to get a reminder of something that helped set off the debate to begin with. Winter Park's historic Capen-Showalter House, which nearly got torn down in 2013 after it was purchased by new owners, will officially be opened to the public on Sunday, Oct. 11 from 1-4 p.m. at its home at the Albin Polasek Museum & Sculpture Gardens, 633 Osceola Ave. The public is invited to attend and celebrate the Capen Public Open House event - which as the museum staff noted includes a chance to explore their collection of paintings, sculpture, and historic features.
