Barter recreates his life experiences with a paintbrush paying homage to "the daily struggles of the men and women that make a living on the boats, piers, and harbors of Maine." Foster was selected by the Schoodic International Sculpture Symposium to create a monumental granite sculpture for the 2015 symposium.

    Lecture May 19 at 6:30 PM at Moore Auditorium at Schoodic Institute in Winter Harbor - John Anderson from College of the Atlantic will present "Sea level rise and other impacts on nesting seabird colonies in Acadia". Dr. Anderson gave a version of this presentation in March at a National Parks summit, "Science for Parks, Parks for Science: The Next Century," at UC Berkeley.Beyond the lands publicly owned as part of Acadia National Park, Acadia owns or has easements on over 100 outlying islands in the Gulf of Maine, several of which provide habitat for colonies of gulls, cormorants, eider ducks, and other seabirds.
