    A small plane that made an emergency landing on U.S. 95 east of Fernley Wednesday was on its way from Wisconsin to California when it ran into trouble, according to Nevada Highway Patrol. The plane struck a 70 mph sign along the highway and then was able to pull to shoulder out of the way of traffic, trooper Karen Garretson said.

Burning Man organizers have refused the request, saying amenities such as flush toilets, washers and dryers, showers, air conditioning and refrigerators at the bureau's on-site camp in the Black Rock Desert would cost $1 million and hike its permit fees to some $5 million.

The two were backseat passengers in a Ford F-150 that went off the interstate and eventually rolled about 8:30 a.m., throwing the boy from the pickup, Trooper Jim Stewart said.
