    The Wahkiakum Mule football team got back on the winning track with a 41-22 win over the Winlock Cardinals last Friday. The win secured a third place finish for the Mules in the Central League's River Division and put them in a crossover playoff today with the Raymond Seagulls, second place finisher in the Coastal Division.

    In spite of some early morning fog, the weekend weather was certainly dry and nice and it's going to be missed, as rain is scheduled to take its place by the time you read this. Then again, we are nearing the end of October, so I guess we have to expect that our nice weather can't last forever.

    Last Thursday, the Lady Mules traveled to Toledo and won in three sets, 25-21, 25-13, and 25-19. Coach Kayli Hurley's standouts were Destiny McGowan with "awesome serving and defense," Charlie Ashe for a "strong all around game," and Solana Stanley with "stellar serve receive and defense."

    After a tough loss last week to Napavine, the Wahkiakum Mules girls basketball team stepped up to a challenge from Adna on Thursday, and got an easy win in Winlock on Tuesday. The Lady Mules pulled ahead of Adna early in the game on Thursday, but never enough to be completely comfortable.
