The Union County Board of Education said Union County Public Schools needs the 28 capital projects requested in its now-$227-million bond, but the Union County Board of Commissioners - and a couple BOE members - aren't buying it. The BOE made its final plea to commissioners on June 20 in a joint meeting of the two boards to place a bond referendum on the November ballot. Comment?
The Warriors' boys' team won its third consecutive MAC championship, defeating Northside Christian and First Assembly, 229-103, at Winthrop University May 9. The girls' team, which lost by two points in last season's conference championship, won the MAC title, beating Northside Christian, 197-120.5. Both teams will enter the state championship meet, which takes place at Campbell University Friday, May 20 and Saturday, May 21, with high expectations. The Union County Arts Council recently announced its Grassroots Arts Grant program, which will provide funding to seven arts groups in Union County. Funds have been made available to tax-exempt nonprofits focusing on promoting and developing diverse cultural arts programming in Union County. Comment?

X2F features a six-week curriculum consisting of 12 one-hour sessions that focus on speed and agility, strength, balance and cardiovascular exercise. Comment?
The Monroe Expressway, under construction in Union County, runs parallel with Interstate 77 express lanes in Mecklenburg and Iredell counties on many fronts - except geographically.
